Indianapolis 500 Race Day Schedule
Get ready to feel the adrenaline rush! The 109th running of the Indianapolis 500, presented by Gainbridge, returns home on Sunday, May 25. This iconic event, known as “The Greatest Spectacle in Motorsports,” promises unmatched energy that permeates the Indiana air and makes speed lovers proud. It’s time to connect with the rich history and excitement of motorsports at one of the world’s most legendary racetracks.
To get the most out of the Indianapolis 500, it’s essential to plan ahead and purchase your tickets. Gates at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will open at 6:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) and remain open until 4:00 p.m., although this schedule is subject to change. It is recommended to check for open gates and grandstands for the best experience. The day will be packed with activities, starting early for the most enthusiastic fans.
The day’s program is loaded with must-see moments. At 9:00 a.m., the cars will make their way to the pits, while the traditional Borg Warner Trophy March will start its route from the IMS Museum at 8:45 a.m. Cars will be positioned on the main straight grid at 10:30 a.m., setting the stage for the driver introductions at 11:47 a.m. in the Brickyard.
Pre-race ceremonies are an essential part of IMS traditions. The National Anthem will be sung at 12:24 p.m., followed by a rousing rendition of “Back Home in Indiana” at 12:36 p.m. The highlight will come at 12:38 p.m., with the iconic “Engine Start Order” by Roger Penske.
