The winner of the 2025 Golden Boot, an individual trophy awarded to Europe’s top scorer, was announced this last weekend and took soccer fans by surprise. This time, three players competed for the award. Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid CF) took home the 2025 Golden Boot by leading the standings with 62 points after scoring 31 goals in LaLiga. In second place was Viktor Gyökeres (Sporting ) with 58.5 points, after scoring 39 goals in Portugal’s Primeira Liga. Mohamed Salah scored 29 goals and earned 58 points in the Premier League.

Who won the 2025 Golden Boot and how were the points determined?
Kylian Mbappé, French forward for Real Madrid, was crowned the winner of the 2025 Golden Boot. The player led the list with 62 points after scoring 31 goals. In second place was Viktor Gyökeres with 58.5 points after scoring 39 goals, since Portugal’s Primeira Liga is not one of the five big leagues, which means each goal scored by Gyökeres is worth 1.5 points.

The situation was different for Mbappé and Mohamed Salah in LaLiga and the Premier League, respectively.
Mbappé finished with 62 points thanks to his 31 goals, as LaLiga awards 2 points for each goal scored. Mohamed Salah scored 29 goals and earned 58 points in the Premier League, while Gyökeres reached 58.5 points in Portugal.
